Leptospira
This is a core vaccine that protects against the Leptospira bacteria that can affect both dogs and humans. It is typically spread via contact with soil and water contaminated with urine from infected animals. 2 doses are administered, 2-4 weeks apart starting at 12 weeks of age and then a single dose at 1 yr after the initial series. The vaccine is then boostered annually.
DappL is a combination vaccine which includes Lepto. $40
Bordetella
Is a non-core vaccine that protects against a highly contagious respiratory infection caused by the bacterium Bordetella bronchiseptica. Dogs with clinical signs are referred to as having 'kennel cough'. Vaccination is recommended based on your pets life-style and level of exposure to other dogs. An initial dose is administered orally, and then boostered annually.
Canine Influenza (CIV) $47
This is a non-core vaccine. 2 doses are administered starting at 12 weeks of age and then a single dose at 1 yr after the initial series. The vaccine is then boostered annually.
Canine influenza is not the same pathogen that causes kennel cough but a highly contagious H3N8/H3N2 virus that can lead to severe (and sometimes fatal) illness. Immunization is recommended for all dogs that board and/or are exposed to other dogs.
Lyme $34
Vaccination for Lyme borreliosis should be considered for dogs that live within, hike or travel to regions with emerging or endemic Lyme disease which is caused by infection with tick-transmitted borrelial pathogens.
